Program Overview
DSCA provides a rehabilitative program for language and pronunciation to raise the language competency of children with Down’s Syndrome, so that they fulfill their main needs, express themselves, and use conversational skills with others. Riyadh International Catering Corporation (McDonald's) has taken up/ sponsored/ this program, which consists of daily or weekly sessions with a comprehensive team that includes language and pronunciation specialists as well as specialists in communication therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, family coaches, and supervisors of rehabilitative services. to fulfill their chief needs while raising their communicative competency, self-expression, and the use of conversational skills with others.

  • SAUT Program for Self-Support aims to empower every individual with Down’s Syndrome, each according to his or her highest potentials and abilities, to fulfill his or her self-efficacy and capability to be independent and self-reliant to the same level expected of those of the same age.
  • The schools of SAUT Society for Down Syndrome are the only ones to provide the program in the Arabic language across the world, benefitting most school children during the last 25 years.
  • Studies and research have proved that individuals with Down’s Syndrome can advance in a way that exceeds standard possible predictions when they receive self-support combined with specialized programs, an educational environment that is suitable for every person’s needs and abilities, and the provision of a specialized educational program that focuses on function and not abstract concepts.

  • The SAUT Program for Reading and Writing aims to empower every individual with Down’s Syndrome to learn reading and writing, each according to his or her highest potentials and abilities, and to use reading and writing as tools that help them practice their daily living.
  • The schools of SAUT Society for Down Syndrome are the only ones to provide the program in the Arabic language across the world, benefitting at least 9201 female and male students during the last 25 years.
  • Reading and Writing are included in all skill aspects, be they academic or occupational. The program is multifaceted in that it is an occupational, practical, and individualized program, where it can be used for different levels of reading and writing, be that for beginners or those wanting to advance their reading and writing skills to higher levels.

A General Overview of The Center for Down’s Syndrome

The Center for Down’s Syndrome is one of the affiliated centers of the charitable association for special needs in Jubail Industrial City, Eradah, which is involved in training and rehabilitating male and female children with Down’s Syndrome, from birth up until 21 years of age. The rehabilitation for females continues to 40 years of age. This is done through a series of complete and comprehensive rehabilitative & treatment services by way of a variety of programs that provide individual sessions and group classes while empowering their families through guided sessions given by Eradah’s qualified and experienced specialists

Program Overview
The Center for Down’s Syndrome provides the Language Competencies Program for children with Down’s Syndrome and their families from age 2 to 21 years of age throughout 23 weeks in an academic year on an individual session basis, whereby these sessions opt to develop the children, advance them and allow them to gain all language skills with their expressive and receptive divisions, in addition to treating all language and pronunciation disorders that show in omittance, replacement, and distortion. Moreover, it seeks to treat all physiological processes after evaluating them and diagnosing their main problems.
The Direct Objectives and Anticipated Outcomes of the Program
  1. To develop the language and pronunciation skills in the field of receptive language and its advancement (understanding instructions, comprehending questions, imitation, inclusive groups, use of verbs in singular, pairs, and plural, negation, concepts, order of events)
  2. To develop the language and pronunciation skills in the field of expressive language and its advancement (size of vocabulary, inclusive groups, use of verbs in singular, pairs, and plural, comparisons, preferred noun, personal pronouns, conjunctions, adverbs of time and duration, adverbs of place, ownership, adjectives, present tense, meaning and context, verb tense and description of connected events).
  3. To develop and improve the skills of language use (asking for things, accepting or refusing, taking turns, making a conversation, social routine, asking questions, telling stories).
