For the third year in a row, and inline with McDonald's Saudi Arabia's strategy to support kids with Down syndrome under its community service platform (Ajyalona), Riyadh International Catering Company (RICC), the owner of McDonald's restaurants’ franchise in the Central, Eastern and Northern regions, concluded its campaign on the 8th of December, with an announcement donating all the sales of McRoyale on that day to support (McDonald's Capacity Building Program for parents and organizations in managing and proactively understanding kids with Down Syndrome) supervised by the Down Syndrome Charitable Association (DSCA).
The program was launched in cooperation between McDonald's and DSCA to support children with Down syndrome. The program aims to provide parents and organizations with the latest methods and means to properly develop the communication skills, among other abilities, for kids with Down Syndrome. Noting that the ultimate goal of this program is to allow kids with Down syndrome to be an active, productive, and independent part of society, and be able to manage their daily life tasks on their own.
McDonald's successfully raised a sum of 60,029 Saudi Riyals, which was granted to DSCA in a check handover ceremony that was held at the RICC’s headquarters in Riyadh, in the presence of Mrs. Suzan Al-Ghanim, President of DSCA, and his Highness Prince Majid bin Fahd Al Saud, Executive Director of Human Resources, Training, and Administrative Affairs in RICC, along with a number of kids from DSCA.
Note that the first campaign to support the (Capacity Building for parents and organizations in managing and proactively understanding kids with Down Syndrome) was launched in 2017, and since then, many workshops have been held under the supervision of specialists from DSCA in many cities such as Hafar Al-Batin, followed by several campaigns targeting more than 5 cities in Riyadh, the Eastern and Northern regions of the Kingdom.
Two other workshops were recently held, on the 27th and 29th December 2020, inline with all the necessary precautionary measures. More than 340 mothers and families related to Down Syndrome attended the online workshops that focused on effective communication methods and self-care skills. The mothers and all the attendees expressed their gratitude and thanks for what McDonald's and DSCA are doing in this field. The two workshops received a high turnout and encouraging interactions with all the attendees.
