On the occasion of its 30th anniversary since opening its first branch in Saudi Arabia on December 8, 1993, McDonald's recently launched a new campaign across its restaurants in the central, eastern, and northern regions of the Kingdom, as well as on its app. The campaign, titled "Menu of the Good Old Days", offered meals at 1993 prices. Additionally, a special social media campaign was launched, featuring valuable gifts for participants.
To celebrate 30 years since the opening of its first branch in Saudi Arabia, McDonald’s held numerous activities to mark the occasion. As a gesture of appreciation to its loyal customers, a three-day campaign titled "Menu of the Good Old Days" was launched, offering specific meals at 1993 prices—the year McDonald's first opened in Saudi Arabia.
A major social media campaign titled "30 Years of Friendship with 30 Million in Saudi Arabia" was also introduced. Participants were invited to share an old photo of themselves at McDonald's, a nostalgic McDonald's collectible toy, or a comparison of an old and recent photo of themselves at McDonald's restaurants.
Tens of thousands of entries were received, and winners were selected in three separate draws held every 10 days. Prizes included 30 gold coins, each weighing 20 grams of 24-karat gold. The winners were celebrated, and prizes were distributed at McDonald’s headquarters in Riyadh.
Commenting on the occasion, McDonald’s Marketing and Communications Executive Director, Mr. Houssam Barbour, stated:
"On the 30th anniversary of McDonald's in Saudi Arabia, we wanted to express our gratitude and appreciation to McDonald's fans and customers with a unique and grand celebration. We offered meals at 1993 prices—the year we opened our first branch in Saudi Arabia—at all our locations. Additionally, we introduced numerous rewards on the McDonald’s app, which provides a unique experience featuring exclusive offers and rewards throughout the year. With daily and weekly deals, customers can enjoy amazing discounts, free add-ons with purchases, and much more. We also launched the ‘30 Years of Friendship’ campaign on our social media accounts, offering 30 gold coins of 20 grams each, with plenty of surprises for McDonald's fans."
